Retired in may of 98 and vivisted mt brother in Juneau AK, he had big v-twin Honda which was for sale and his new HD Dyna Wide glide. rode them both and then went back home. Was driving by the BMW/Kaw dealership and noticed this beautiful 97 cruiser winking at me. Looked it over and started researching it on the net and with friends who had ridden singles. Managed to stay off the street for 2 weeks and then went back and had him start it and I got to sit on it. Went to the Credit Union got a check made out to me and the shop, took it back and said I wanted a test drive with hom along. He balked, laid down the check to show him I was serious and he finally said OK. Drove it around the block and came back and signed the check. Had to go to another dealer to get a white helmet. Got some soft bags and supports first, then a Mephis Shades shield and tried a sportster muffler my kid brother brought me from the dealers junk pile. Ordered a SuperTrapp, ran it for a while and wanted a deeper sound so started playing with exhaust systems. Then hard bags, fairing and trunk. Like the size, I'm short legged and a HD full size is s real strain to keep up. Wasn't impressed with the fit of the current sportsters to me, would be interested in one of mid 50's mini dressers with the big sprung seat. Had had a variety of smaller singles and a couple Honda twins over the years. so thumper, styling, color, belt drive, simplicity and price all sold me, almost 22k miles 18k mine since 9/99. Other interesting bikes I'd like to own, PC800 Honda, 42 HD Servicar, some of the other bikes I had and sold over the years just for nostoligas sake. Max
